What's wrong with you if you are too thin? it is very true a thin person is far better than an obese person but over limit of a thing is always harmful. So this is also truth that being underweight has its own hazards.
Those who are extremely lean and thin have a propensity to have weaker immune systems, making them prone to infections, surgical complications, and poor recovery times for sickness. They have a propensity to have low muscle mass and poor quality of hair, teeth, and skin texture and also have delayed puberty. They may have interference in the ability to regulate hormones, shield bone health and females could become unable to menstruate. General symptoms include early tiredness, poor digestion, irritability, disturbed sleep, body ache, headache, throat infection and fractures.
Like obesity, thinness can be caused medically, genetically and environmentally. Medical causes are infectious disease, hormonal imbalance, Type-1 diabetes and sometime tumors etc. In children, the incapability to gain weight may warning sign a condition known as "failure to thrive," which means a child is not growing aptly for his/her age. This may be caused by an disease, or eating habits dictated by a parental idiosyncrasy. According to a study there have been children who have not developed appropriately since they did not get sufficient nutrients from being on a uncooked foodstuff, macrobiotic, or vegetarian diet.
All these things could be kept away by removing the underlined cause and sustaining a healthy weight, a measurement that obviously varies from individual to individual. Another measure could be a person’s body mass index (BMI), which is a system to sort size based on a person's height and weight.
